BACKGROUND/AIMS: Pancreatic ductal carcinoma cells induce fibrosis by stimulating
pancreatic stellate cells to proliferate and synthesize matrix. Desmoplastic reaction has also
been observed in liver metastases of pancreatic carcinoma. Hepatic stellate cells are similar
